KANYAKA-RUSHWA 4: UNIS continues to monitor corruption cases in the DRC

Kinshasa, 30 August 2025 — UNIS, the Pan-African Network Against Corruption and a member of the “Le Congo n'est pas à vendre” (CNPAV) coalition, is publishing the fourth issue of its KANYAKA-RUSHWA bulletin, continuing its work of documenting and tracking corruption cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KANYAKA-RUSHWA 4: UNIS continues to monitor corruption cases in the DRC

The bulletin examines several cases that have dominated the news, among them the tax advances made by Gécamines to the public treasury, the Muanda Fund, the construction of the Lumumba stadium in Matadi, the conviction of a former director-general of the RVA for mismanagement, and judicial developments in the Bukanga Lonzo and borehole cases.

The publication reflects the determination of UNIS to keep corruption cases in public debate, to encourage scrutiny of the public finances, and to press for an effective response from oversight institutions and the courts.

With KANYAKA-RUSHWA, UNIS pursues one essential goal: to stop corruption cases from disappearing from collective memory without follow-up, without an institutional response and without anyone being held to account.

Editorial rule: KANYAKA-RUSHWA never turns an allegation, a suspicion or an accusation into an established fact. The bulletin consistently distinguishes between established facts, allegations, ongoing investigations, prosecutions and convictions.
